In this wood 

There are no leaves 

On the trees 

Last year's crop lie 

Rotting beneath the smudged 

Snow 

Trees 

Creaking 

And complaining 

In the wind 

Shake like shivering bones 

Yet 

Safe in silence 

Caught and curled 

Budded life 

Waits
